My love for procs started when Everquest Shamans received a new spell called “Spirit of the Panther”, which basically was a short timed buff that proc a 400 damage spell, and the proc rate was crazy high, it would go off every few seconds, and was also crittable. At first, they let the buff to be castable on anyone, so I remember when the spell was first release, my guild was at the final boss of Uqua, and we pretty much killed him in half the time of our normal kill, just cause of this one spell! It was later nerfed to group only, but it still remains one of the best spells of all time. Anyhow, here are my analysis on different enchant procs and a few items that are able to produce a proc. I wish Blizzard would give us additional trinket slots to use, there are so many useful trinket to mix and match with, but with only 2 available slots, a lot of these other trinkets rot in the bank, 2 more extra trinket slots please! Also remove the 30 sec global cooldown too.
Weapon Enchants (2.6/2.6) Mongoose/Mongoose Probably the overall best setup when factoring in high resilience targets, otherwise use Executioner/Mongoose if you feel you have enough crit percentage. Mats will make some people broke so choose wisely. Battlemaster/Battlemaster Although I love the idea of this enchant, 180-300 group heal proc, with such costly mats to use, these enchants were my biggest disappointment. The proc rate is just too low and your talking 8 voids crystals, 8 large prismatic shards, and 2 primal waters each. At times, I couldn’t even get 1 proc per farming mob, on a rare occasion I would see a double heal proc, but that’s about it. My solution, increase the proc rate to lets say the Mark of Conquest proc rate, and lower the group heal some if needed. Otherwise, this enchant is fairly useless given the proc rate and cost. Crusader/Crusader Lovely enchant pre-TBC, it still works great at 70 even with the slight nerf to it with gaining levels. The proc is only 60 strength, and heals for about 60hp. Procs often so you can’t go wrong with it if you need the extra strength. If not, go Mongoose. Trinkets Romulo’s Poison Vial (35 hit, 222-332 nature dmg proc) Still love this trinket, procs a few times each farming mob. Best trinket with hit, for those of you needing more. Mark of Conquest (54ap, heals 90-120 or 128-172 mana) Procs few times a fight, great for farming when used with multiple healing procs. Darkmoon Card: Heroism (heals 120-180, lower at 70 I believe) Procs more often than Mark of Conquest. Darkmoon Card: Maelstrom (200-300 nature dmg proc) Still fun trinket to use, its great when used with Romulo’s Poison Vial, dmg procs for the win! Meta Gems Brutal Earthstorm Diamond (+3 melee damage, chance to stun for 1 sec) Proc rate is kind of low, I still keep it in my engineering googles. Tenacious Earthstorm Diamond (+12def, 50-60 proc heal) I toyed around with this meta gem, proc around the same as Mark of Conquest. Thundering Skyfire Diamond (240 haste rating for 6s) My current meta gem, its been said has internal cooldown of 40 secs. Its good paired up with Abacus of Violent Odds (64ap, use 260 haste rating for 10secs, 2min cooldown).
